Playing the wrong note does not matter, playing without passion is unforgivable.
Ludwig van Beethoven

My favourite conductors?

Paavo Järvi. Incredibly optimistic, giving the musucians space, and, at the same time , very clear in his gesture. His aim is the sincerity of musical expression.

Leonard Bernstein. The volcano of energy, master of transmitting and extracting emotions. A conductor for whom expression has always been the most important. Unsurpassed teacher and admirable erudite.

Simon Rattle. The quintessence of spotaneity, incredibly versatile, taking up the challenges of different scores. A perfect genius of expression.

Christoph Eschenbach. The master of Mahler’s symphonies, immersed in narration form the forst to the last tone.

John Eliot Gardiner. The most ingenious interpretator of Bach music, conscientiously approaching style interpretation. The ideal proportion between intellect and emotion in music.

I do not wish to win the hearts, I just want to find those, who feel the same way as I do.
Witold Lutosławski

What is the ideal conductor like?

I do not believe it exists in person. To create one, you would need to melt the talents and abilities of all the above mentioned and many others, too. This does not mean, however, that the abstract ideal to which we should aspire does not exist. We can see it looking with humility at those who are the closest to it.

Who is the conductor?

A teacher and also – a student. A creator and a preformer. An instrumentalist, a singer, an actor, and sometimes a composer. A psychologist.

What are my fields of expertise?

To be able to focus on just one aspect of music, you first need to gain the experience in different genres and performing sets. That is why I try to explore symphonic, choral, opera, theatre and musical forms.

My view on performed pieces

As a conductor, I attempt to look at the works of others from the point of view of a composer. To put myself in a role of other creators and contemplate their intentions. To approach other compositions with the same respect as I want my works to be treated with. .

When directing my own music I try to express all its meaning. I intend to do the same while interpreting the other composers’ works.

(...) there are two people in me – a conductor and a composer.
